Around the Precinct – 24 March 2022

Today, 24 March, is World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, an initiative of the World Health Organization to “raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic”. TB is a key focus for Alliance member Burnet Institute, where researchers have been contributing to new global guidelines for the management of the disease in children and young adults, and calling for more funding to help manage TB in the Asia-Pacific region.

Elsewhere on the precinct, Monash researchers are investigating how we can design inclusive and accessible spaces for an ageing population, and Baker Institute scientists have discovered that death rates from type 1 diabetes are declining in many countries around the globe.
