Research Day

Research Day, held during Alfred Week, focuses on oral research presentations. A prominent figure who has made a lasting contribution to medical research is invited to present a Keynote Address followed by several short presentations by Alfred Research Alliance Research Prize winners. In 2018, Dr Susan Alberti delivered the Keynote Address. You can read more about it here.

Alfred Research Alliance Research Prize

The Alfred Research Alliance Research Prizes (clinical and basic) are awarded annually on Research Day for the best original research articles published in the previous calendar year.

The Prize for Basic Research in 2018 was awarded to Professor Dmitri Sviridov (Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute). Two prizes were awarded for Clinical Research – the first to Professor Jamie Cooper (Monash University, The Alfred) and the other to Professor Paul Myles (The Alfred, Monash University). More detail about the 2018 winners can be found here.
