Flow Cytometry: The LSR II analyser

The Alfred Research Alliance AMREPFlow Cytometry
Core Facility is a state of the art, world class cell sorting and cell analysis laboratory, catering for the scientific research community based at the Alfred Research Alliance and broader Melbourne.

The facility is located on the site of The Alfred in Commercial Rd, Melbourne. More specifically, it is at the Monash University Central Clinical School (CCS) ACBD (1st and 2nd floors), Monash Immunology 6th floor and the Burnet Institute (Alfred Centre 7th floor).

The facility is managed by Mr. Geza Paukovics, B.Med. Lab. Sci., who has more than 25 years of extensive experience in the field of flow cytometry and cell sorting.

The facility offers comprehensive training and education, experimental design and protocol guidance specifically targeting effective data generation and interpretation in the field of flow cytometry.

The facility offers services catering for both animal and human cell sorting in a PC2 environment. Uniquely, it also caters for infectious sample sorting (eg. HIV, HepC) in a dedicated PC3 environment.

The facility is equipped with four cell sorting platforms (2 x BD FACS Aria, 1 x BD Influx and 1 x custom-built BD Fusion with six excitation lasers including UV and IR) and nine cell analysis platforms. (3 x BD FACSCalibur, 2 x BD FACS CantoII, 1 x BD LSRII, 1 x BD Fortessa, 1 x BD Fortessa X-20 and 1 x Beckman Coulter – CytoFlex). AMREPFlow also has acquired the AMNIS Imagestream MkII – an imaging flow cytometer, currently unique to the Alliance and broader Melbourne.
