Back for a second year, Dr. Shane Huntington, from 3RRR radio’s “Einstein a Go-Go” and CEO of the Australian Society for Medical Research, will host six rapid-fire presentations from six ARA researchers who have been successful in receiving NHMRC Investigator Grants this year.

Twenty-one researchers from Alliance partners; Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, Burnet Institute, Monash Translational Medicine, and Monash Public Health and Preventive Medicine received a combined $42.9M in National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Grants.

The recipients were chosen in recognition that their research will lead to advances in knowledge about human health, better health care for Australians and improvements to the economy.

The innovation, creativity and dedication of these investigators will help ensure Australia has the very best treatments, the very latest understanding, and the most evidence-informed health services.

Come along as we highlight six different researchers across six different research fields.

  • Prof Jason Ong, Monash University/Alfred Health, Going the last mile to end HIV transmission in Australia: ensuring no one is left behind
  • Professor Jonathan Shaw, Baker/Monash, Epidemiology of complications of diabetes: from causes to population burden
  • Dr Emma Foster, Monash University/Alfred Health, Transforming Epilepsy Management through Evidence-Driven Approaches
  • Assoc Prof Emma Ridley, Monash University, Improving the quality of evidence in nutrition during recovery from critical illness (emerging researcher)
  • Assoc Prof Nick Scott, Burnet, Using modelling to guide the elimination of hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV
