Resources

As a vibrant community of leading researchers, health practitioners and health professionals, the Alfred Research Alliance has a vast combined base of expertise, knowledge and resources.

The Alfred frontFrom AMREP to the Alliance

It all started in the late 1990s, when Inner & Eastern Healthcare Network (including The Alfred), Baker Medical Research Institute, Macfarlane Burnet Centre for Medical Research and Monash University agreed to establish a new academic precinct on the Alfred site.

Originally known as the Alfred Medical Research & Education Precinct (AMREP), it centred mainly around shared infrastructure – most notably, the Baker tower, Ian Potter Library, a range of laboratory resources and an on-site Education Centre.

World-Class Infrastructure and Facilities

Today, those infrastructure resources are better than ever. The Innovation & Education Hub provides a focus for shared learning and collaboration. A 200-seat Lecture Theatre and flexible learning and meeting facilities are ideal for a range of activities. These resources are available for hire to clients both within and outside the precinct.

This is complemented by state-of-the-art clinical facilities at The Alfred and extensive research facilities, specialist equipment and resources across the precinct, which provide students, researchers and clinicians with access to the capabilities they require for their world-leading projects – all governed by ethical oversight.

Research Platforms

Our research platforms provide another rich resource. As well as the largest collection of Clinical Registries in the country, our Platform Technologies include Advanced Pre-Clinical Imaging Facility, Flow Cytometry, Histology, Micro Imaging, an ImmunoMonitoring facility and a Bioinformatics and Biostatistical Consulting capability.

By sharing facilities across the precinct, we minimise duplication and maximise the value of investment dollars, while collaborating closely to ensure our facilities and services operate at world’s best practice, delivering more value to all.

Reports and Publications

The knowledge and advances made here over the years are also well documented in a broad collection of reports and publications including Annual Research Reports for the Alliance, Alliance Capability Statements and a range of other publications.
