Our Centre for Cardiovascular Research is a collaboration that leverages the collective and complementary expertise across Monash University, Alfred Health and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute to tackle focus areas such as heart failure, cardiac arrest and shock, and coronary heart disease.
Programs extend from laboratory to clinical research and wide-scale national and international community studies, with a focus on diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Illicit drug use involved in nearly one in three sudden cardiac deaths in young adults
Approximately one-third of young adults in Victoria who experienced sudden cardiac deaths outside of a hospital from 2019 to 2021 used illicit drugs prior to their fatal events, a study led by Dr Liz Paratz, at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute has found.
